Lifting rebars safely

Straub Eisen- und Stahlhandel GmbH is not only a leading processor for reinforcing steel in Germany. The company in Lichtenau, Baden, has also been a long-standing TRUNINGER customer.
That’s why, TRUNINGER was the first port of call, when it came to building a new warehouse for rebars. After all, Straub has been operating a Swiss-made lifting magnet system since 2006.

Old and new: a perfect liaison technically and economically

The new project was brought to us in 2021. The existing plant was renewed and significantly enlarged. A new, technologically advanced lifting magnet system needed to be combined with the exisiting older magnet system. In cooperation with a project developer, Straub planned new crane systems into which our systems were integrated. "We are delighted that Straub is continuing to rely on our collaboration for the construction of their new building", says TRUNINGER CEO Rolf Truninger. And his partner Felix Truninger adds: "The new system, Straub Eisen- und Stahlhandel is installing, represents a great step forward and we are convinced it will prove an strong anchor in terms of reliability and safety".
In addition to the existing system, which we moved from the old to the new hall in just a few days, TRUNINGER manufactured a new system which meets Straub's current requirements for efficiency, safety and reliability within three months. Our service technicians installed a flexible telescopic spreader beam with five compact, strong magnets on the new crane now boosting Straub's material flow.

Magnets ensure maximum safety

At a size of about 40 x 60cm, each individual magnet weighs around 500 kg. Their magnetic force can be finely dosed thanks to our innovative controller technology. To ensure the required safety factor of 2, the lifting force doubles automatically once the load has been picked up.
Thanks to the adjustable length of the spreader beam, Straub can efficiently handle single or double bundles of rebar of different lengths with a total weight of up to 5 tons.
A special factor is the individual magnets’ deep magnetic field: It ensures that also lower bars within the bundles are magnetically lifted. This ensures greater safety and positional tolerance when picking, thus, more reliable and faster handling.
With the new system, Straub's employees are able to unload a truck loaded with 30 tons of reinforcing steel in just six strokes or 12 minutes—quickly and safely.
